Helpful Health Hint: HEMORRHOIDS

Helpful Health Hint: HEMORRHOIDS
What are you doing for those Pesky Hemorrhoids?

If you have consulted a health professional about hemorrhoids, you soon learned that you are quite “on your own’ when it comes to the treatment of this condition. They will tell you they won’t operate because the internal blood vessels are continuous with the external blood vessels of that area.
What causes hemorrhoids? Hemorrhoids are caused by a painful engorgement of blood vessels of the rectum and anal area. It may be accompanied by a feeling of itching.
If you go back as far as I do, you will remember someone saying that hemorrhoids are caused by sitting on something cold. Nothing is further from the truth!
Hemorrhoids are often caused from straining a bowel movement (because of dry, hard fecal material).
Sadly, it may take one B.M. of this kind to cause hemorrhoids to develop. Another cause is severe diarrhea.
Now, the helpful health hint;
Treatment includes the pre-bowel movement use of suppositories (bullets). The post bowel movement application of a small freezable gel pack held over the anal area for 2-3 minutes. Then the insertion into the rectum of a medicine dropper full of ice water. (Droppers are available at Walgreens. They are larger than an eye dropper) Apply some Vaseline to the dropper before inserting. A frozen gel pack on the anal area may not feel good at first, but you will be happy with the end result. (Pun intended.)
A diet that includes enough liquids, fiber, and vegetables is important. Never postpone Nature’s call.
